Background

To achieve the aim of integration of mobile apps to facilitate easy access to public services, the Information & e-Government Authority of Bahrain (iGA) has concluded the process of migrating all services from the Islamiyat app to the sole MyGov platform.

This step is meant to make it more convenient for users as they will access different government services from a single platform. MyGov currently offers 111 services and features provided by 15 government entities. The app is available through the Bahrain eGovernment Apps Store.

The migration follows the integration of several other government applications into MyGov, including Be Aware, Bahrain Post, and Electricity & Water Services. The initiative forms part of Bahrain’s broader digital transformation strategy and efforts to make government services more accessible and efficient.

Ali Abdulaziz Janahi, Deputy Chief Executive for eTransformation at iGA, said the application merger programme is being implemented in coordination with government entities and under the supervision of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology.

He noted that the long-term plan is to consolidate government applications into three main platforms: MyGov for individuals, AlTajir for businesses and investors, and the Bahrain app for visitors.

Services transferred from Islamiyat to MyGov include Zakat and charity donations, mosque and Islamic centre locations, prayer timings, Hijri and Gregorian calendars, Qibla direction, daily moon status, and information on Sharia institutes. These services are provided in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf.

The authority has also introduced the Adhan audio feature within MyGov following public feedback. In addition, the Fael Khair service, offered in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, has been integrated into the Islamic Affairs section of the platform.
