Background:
The Saudi-Chinese Business Council said Chinese investment in Saudi Arabia is rising, with over 5,000 companies visiting the Kingdom this year. The council has more than 1,800 members and has successfully implemented over 85 percent of its agreements, showing strong economic cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from Jiangsu Province at the Federation of Saudi Chambers, the council’s Deputy Chairman, Anas Al-Fadda, highlighted the strong convergence between China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Saudi Vision 2030 as a key factor driving interest.
Jiangsu, China’s second-largest province in terms of GDP contribution, is increasingly looking to expand into the Saudi market. Trade between Jiangsu and Saudi Arabia has surpassed $100 billion in recent years, and additional growth has been reported this year. Jiangsu covers 1.1% of China’s land but produces over 10% of its GDP and has 6% of the population.
The province is a major manufacturing hub, moving from light industries to high-tech and heavy manufacturing, especially electronics and precision parts.
Mishari Al-Kuwaiflie of MIE said investment delegations help connect Chinese companies with the Saudi market. He said industrial and technology-focused delegations have visited Saudi Arabia to explore partnerships, with Chinese firms showing growing interest in long-term projects.
Participants, including representatives from XMG Trading, noted the Kingdom’s strong capacity to support local talent and the successful localization of projects, with some achieving rates above 40 percent.
