Background:

Saudi Arabia-backed firm Humain has invested $3 billion in xAI, just before the company was acquired by SpaceX, marking a major step in the Kingdom’s effort to grow its role in advanced technologies.

The investment was part of xAI’s Series E funding round, where Humain secured a significant minority stake. After the acquisition, Humain’s stake became shares in SpaceX.

Humain, backed by the Public Investment Fund, focuses on investments, building infrastructure, and working with international partners. The company is focusing on building local capabilities while supporting cutting-edge technologies worldwide.

CEO Tareq Amin said the investment reflects the firm’s confidence in high-impact AI platforms. He noted that xAI’s growth, supported by its integration with SpaceX, represents the type of long-term opportunity Humain seeks to back.

The deal builds on an earlier agreement between Humain and xAI to develop more than 500 megawatts of AI data center capacity in Saudi Arabia. The partnership also includes deploying xAI’s Grok models in the Kingdom, strengthening its technology ecosystem.

Earlier this month, SpaceX completed the acquisition of xAI as part of a broader plan led by Elon Musk to combine advanced technologies with space operations. The combined entity is valued at $1.25 trillion and aims to build an integrated platform covering satellite communications and space launch systems.

Founded recently, Humain brings together Saudi Arabia’s AI initiatives under one entity. The company continues to expand its global reach while supporting the Kingdom’s shift toward a knowledge-based economy.
