Background-

Orvia Underwriting expanded its European presence in May with the launch of operations in the Netherlands, strengthening the company’s position in specialist commercial and specialty insurance markets across the region.

The company said Dutch businesses Private Insurance Assuradeuren, Private Insurance Nederland and Classicus Europe BV will gradually transition into the Orvia Underwriting platform over the coming months.

The integration will bring the operations under a unified managing general agent structure supported by the Ardonagh Group.

The Netherlands expansion follows Orvia’s formation earlier in 2026, when Ardonagh Europe combined several underwriting businesses into a Dublin-based platform managing more than €250 million in gross written premium across European and London markets.

Industry observers said the latest expansion reflects increasing demand for specialist insurance products linked to cyber risks, commercial liability, international trade and complex underwriting requirements across Europe.

Orvia said its Dutch operations will focus on specialist insurance products including high-net-worth personal lines, fine art, jewellery, specie and commercial property coverage.

The company added that brokers and underwriting partners would gain access to wider pan-European insurance products through a single operating platform.

The wider European commercial insurance market continues to grow as businesses seek stronger protection against cyber threats, climate-related losses and supply-chain risks. Analysts said the Netherlands remains an important market because of its strong logistics, shipping and international trade sectors.

Executives at Orvia said the expansion supports the company’s long-term plan to build a leading European underwriting platform through market growth, acquisitions and specialist insurance capabilities.
