Background

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said integrating artificial intelligence into government work is a key priority for the next phase of the UAE’s new government framework project. He reviewed progress on the initiative in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and senior officials.

The project aims to transform 50% of the UAE government sectors and services within two years by using Agentic AI systems. These systems are designed to carry out tasks independently and support decision-making with limited human intervention. Officials said the plan is part of the country’s broader push to modernise public services and improve future readiness.

Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE has chosen to lead the move toward using AI in daily government work. He added that AI is already helping in policy design, programme development, service delivery and decision-making. He also said national teams are central to the transformation, and their ability to work with advanced technology will shape future success.

Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi briefed leadership on implementation progress. He said work has started under the supervision of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan to identify systems, tools and requirements needed to shift half of government operations toward AI-based models.

The project is expected to simplify procedures, speed up service delivery and improve the accuracy of government decisions through integrated federal data and advanced digital infrastructure. It also aims to build national AI talent, offer faster and more proactive services, and strengthen the UAE’s position as a leader in people-focused digital governance.
