Background:
Sharjah-based developer Arada will invest up to £325 million in the UK. This is the company’s first move abroad and a step toward becoming a global property developer. The investment is part of Arada’s plan to grow beyond the UAE and explore opportunities in the UK property market.
According to chief executive Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, the developer has acquired an 80% stake in the £2.5 billion Thameside West waterfront project located in London’s Royal Docks.xx`
The large-scale development is one of the most prominent regeneration opportunities in the capital, offering a prime foothold for Arada as it enters a highly competitive market.
Alkhoshaibi confirmed that the £225 million land acquisition, purchased from private developer Keystone, will be funded primarily through Arada’s own equity. The company also expects an additional £100 million in funding support from the UAE to initiate the project’s next phases. He added that the funding system will involve the combination of Arada equity and bank facilities as it goes along with development.
Launched in 2017, Arada is one of the most renowned UAE developers, whose projects, such as Aljada, Masaar, and Nasma Residences, are characterized by smart technology and green areas, as well as a combination of modern facilities.
According to experts, the UK expansion will be timely and will assist Arada in developing its revenues and international footprint. This is a significant move that will see Arada transition into an international real estate developer instead of a local developer.
